Our Spicer Elementary program began in September 2006. After serving children in the Park Vista apartment complex located in the school's area from 2006-2007, the program moved onto the school's campus that fall.
Every day the children attend this program, they find loving directors and mentors to spend their after school hours with them, engaging in meaningful activities during their time there. Daily activities include character lessons, homework assistance, math enrichment activities, mentoring, teambuilding activities, and a healthy afternoon snack. Students are specially selected by their teachers, principals, and counselors for the program; they are those considered possibly at-risk and in need of special attention. Through an amazing partnership with First Baptist Fort Worth, there is a group of regular mentors that volunteer at this facility, many of them volunteering every day. The church also provides transportation to bring those children home whose parents are not able to pick them up after the program ends each day.
