Our Major Cheney at South Birdville Elementary program began in fall 2007. After originally serving children in an apartment complex located in the school’s area from 2005-2007, the program moved onto the school’s campus that September.
Students are specially selected by their teachers, principals, and counselors for the program; they are those considered possibly “at-risk” and in need of special attention. Every day the children attend this program, they are greeted by directors and mentors that love and encourage them and help them throughout the activities of the day. Daily activities include character lessons, homework assistance, math enrichment activities, mentoring, teambuilding activities, and a healthy afternoon snack.
