You Can Help Change Children’s Lives!
Love Never Fails International (LNFI) relies on your tax deductible contributions to provide at-risk and impoverished children and families with a hand up, not a hand out in life through assistance, tutoring, and mentoring. Through our after school programs (currently operating in Birdville ISD and Fort Worth ISD), middle school programs, family activities, one-on-one mentoring, and higher education focused field trips and guest speakers, a change is being made.
The national statistics regarding children are alarming.
- In Texas, a child is born into poverty every 5 minutes.
- 16.8% of children in the Fort Worth/Arlington live in poverty.
- In Birdville ISD, 44.7% of the children are at-risk of failing academically. In Fort Worth ISD, 62.4% are at-risk of failing academically.
- In Texas, 70% of public school 4th graders are reading below grade level. 60% of public school 4th graders are below grade level in math.
The need for change is daunting, yet Love Never Fails International is working to make a change, one child at a time.
Studies show that students who are mentored regularly have better attendance, a better chance of going on to higher education, a better attitude toward school, and are less likely to use drugs, skip school, or hit someone.
**Reading to a child 3 times a week makes them twice as likely to score in the top 25% of their class in reading, which means they are more likely to graduate high school reading on grade level or higher.***
The changes we have seen in the children of LNFI are amazing!
We have found through evaluating school-issued report cards, TAKS scores, and TORF reading fluency tests that children who attended on a consistent basis (at least 80% of the time) and participated regularly in the program showed the following results in the 2009-2010 school year:
- 73% of the students received academic recognition on the A or AB Honor Rolls in the final six weeks.
- 87% of the students earned Satisfactory or Excellent conduct scores in the final six weeks.
- 90% of the students earned passing scores on the Reading TAKS test. 80% earned passing scores on the Math TAKS test.
- Students in our Birdville ISD programs increased their reading fluency by 36 words per minute over the school year.
We also collected the following positive evaluations through anonymous student, teacher, and parent surveys:
- 67% of teachers & administrators said they saw a change in the behavior of the children.
- 100% of teachers & administrators said they would recommend other schools to start an LNFI program.
- 91% of parents said LNFI has positively impacted their child's reading level.
- 94% of students said they felt loved by the people at LNFI.
